I actually do like Michael Jackson. He made some classic pop songs in the 80s that everybody knows, and most like. My favorite album is Thriller, which I bought when it was released back in 1982, as I remember...

I never really liked Michael Jackson. I think my favourite MJ song is "I just canīt stop loving you". I donīt like all the i-i-i, wooo etc.
I have a friend who adores him, and she would have killed all of you...*s*
But us between, I donīt think MJ is very natural!

Michael Jackson is a pretty odd duck, butr he has made some good pop music. He has certainly raised a few eyebrows doing it, as well. There is no such thing as bad publicity....
S.M.I2.L.E! It makes people wonder what you're up to.
Yes, this man have got a lot of publicity through the years.
Not only his many surgeries, but also this with his monkey and some children.

Not my favorite artsist, but he has made some ok songs over the years. Especially "Earthsong" is actually quite bueatiful. Imagine Marian singing that?!?!
Oh yeah,almost forgot that song.
I remember me being about 10-11...I loved that song..heard it on MTV four five times a day...

I like "the old" Machael Jackson. 'Bad' is his best album, in my opinion.
see me through - i'm a soulman...
Yes, classic Jackson. When I heard 'BAD', I couldn't believe that it is possible to record such a great album. Now it sounds a bit old, but I've got a sentiment for it. 'Dangerous' in some places ('Black and white'!) also had that something, but there also were first signs of what he planns to do in the future. Unfortunately. 'Invincible' is just another average record that is so similar to many R&B records being sold in music shops now. The charm has gone.

Have you seen my Childhood?
I'm searching for the world that I
Come from
'Cause I've been looking around
In the lost and found of my heart...
No one understands me
They view it as such strange eccentricities...
'Cause I keep kidding around
Like a child, but pardon me...
People say I'm not okay
'Cause I love such elementary things...
It's been my fate to compensate, for the
Childhood
I've never known...
Have you seen my Childhood?
I'm searching for that wonder in my youth
Like pirates and adventurous dreams,
Of conquest and kings on the throne...
Before you judge me, try hard to love me,
Look within your heart then ask,
Have you seen my Childhood?
People say I'm strange that way
'Cause I love such elementary things,
It's been my fate to compensate,
for the Childhood I've never known...
Have you seen my Childhood?

Like fantastical stories to share
The dreams I would dare, watch me fly...

The surgeries I won't get into right now...because well...His surgeries don't effect his music...I don't care if he wants his nose on his arse...I listen to him for his voice and words...not because he is perfect...and yes, it is a well known fact that his father used him terribly and abused him...Read the lyrics to "Childhood" above...I mean REALLY read them!!!!

if you liten to the song "Man in the mirror" it describes alot what he feels about changing his outlooks.im sure he doesnt regret it,no matter what he looks lie today..the face is a part of identity, and he has killed that part a long time ago.

I still feel very sad today. When I woke up this morning I was hoping that it was all just a bad dream... unfortunately it is not.
Michael was the greatest artist of all time, there's just no comparison to his achievements. Beatles, Elvis or Madonna are not even to close to what he's managed to do.
It hurts me however, how some people still talk about the allegations against him as if they know it to be true... he was considered as a freak by many people and the ignorant and narrow-minded mob have always liked to persecute and harass people who are different. Because I believe that that was his only crime - being different. He liked the company of children because they were innocent and I cannot see anything wrong with that as long as it is in the harmless way I believe it was for him.
Maybe the truth will be known at one point or the other, but in the meantime he is innocent until proven guilty. Unfortunately the witch-hunt for him is probably what broke him in the end and it just proves how malevolent people can be. Everything I saw of him gave the impression of a very humble, gentle and sweet person who was surely troubled but never lost his compassion for his fellow man.
His music legacy will live on for a very long time, so will the heritage of his humanitarian work and last but not the least - his amazing dance moves.
I've learned many of his dance routines and I can say that there have never in the history of music been an artist which music is so irresistibly danceable. Whenever I hear his music I just want to jump up and move to it. Everytime I follow that instinct, I am filled with a joy that I cannot compare to anything else, it's truly a unique feeling.
Thank you Michael for everything you've given us, you were an amazing human being.
May you rest with the peace that you were never allowed to achieve in life.

I didnīt like his music very much but I fell sad because he passed away.. I canīt avoid that.
I wasn't a huge fan but I do like some of his music and I've grown up with Michael Jackson since I was a small child. I am truly shocked. Like someone said, no-one knows the truth about what he was alleged to have been involved in but, as also said, innocent until proven guilty and he was not proven guilty. I really believe he was a lost soul and found the kind of understanding he was looking for in the children he kept company with.
He is a sad, sad loss.

I agree, especially as MJ was acquitted of all charges against him meaning he was not found guilty. Regardless of what people's personal opinions are, the law said he was innocent and so leave it at that.
Besides, the guy's dead now. He can no longer defend himself.

Agreed! We learnt more about MJ in the 7 minutes her speech lasted than in several programs made about his life!! Great speech!
The only thing I did not like about the memorial was that some people there tried to show him as a civil rights activist for black America....

It's a good thing that people finally got to see what we fans already knew, that Michael was a caring and shy person, who was loved by many. It's also sad that it wasn't until after his death...
I love Michael Jackson, I think he was one of the best music artist I've ever known (the other is Marian of course). Michael was different of all. According to the approach among different cultures and colors, I think they were talking about the acceptance of his music, his style as the best in America specially. He has inspired many artists all over the world! I think this can unite different cultures and people, music can do it.

If you still have doubts that he was innocent read these two articles about the first and second case:

They are a sad, but interesting study on human nature and the damage it can do.... It's also unforgivable what those parents made their children go through.
I honestly have no doubt that MJ was framed and was exploited because of his childlike nature and the confused state in which he lived his life.
I agree Kaz.
This guy couldn't hurt a fly, the reason he was so childish is because he never had a real childhood of his own.
As you can see from his kids, he was a great father, I hope the media will leave the kids alone.

Just slightly off topic but related anyway...
There are these pictures online of Michael Jackson apparently illustrating his disease vitiligo:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9SUwwJYD6aI&feature=related
Was weird today when I was shopping. I saw a man on the cash register in the supermarket who was dark skinned but seemed to have suffered burns on his face. He was totally white in those parts. Then I looked more closely and saw that his left arm and hand had huge patches of white, and I mean WHITE, skin. It was so obvious to me that this guy has vitiligo. Even if it turns out that MJ didn't have it (although I'm inclined to believe that he did), at least he raised the profile of this terrible disease. I had never even heard of it until MJ said he had it. If I'd never heard of it, I'd have been totally shocked by this guy's appearance today.

I've known two people with vitiligo (one was my teacher at school), but they were both white, so it wasn't that obvious...

Right! [sad]
I just saw a documentary on ARTE about the sexual abuse allegations on Arte from 2007 which was very rude and I got so angry! I hope those people who talked so bad about him and made many defamatory statement are deeply ashamed today! At the end a man (can't remember who he was, must be a form of repression) said dissemblingly that he "fears" that after MJ's death he will only be remembered as the child abuser and not for his music. Fortunately he couldn't be less right!
I am shocked about ARTE showing this onesided documentary after his death. [banghead] Unbelivable!
Unless anything will be proofed, I truly believe that MJ's intentions were good to all children.....he had helped thousands of children all over the world.....the abuse cases I believe are because some people were too greedy after MJ's money......and also because adult people can't see through MJ's eyes.....I agree that invite children to sleep in your bed will be misunderstood by many adults but I believe that MJ truly wanted to give those kids some trust, love (not sex) as many of those kids didn't get that from there parents......remember it were mostly kids with problems at home, or sick kids MJ cared to help fx on Neverland.
Another thing. Imagine that you can't go shopping unless people wants to touch you all the time....you're so famous that you can't go nowhere without bodyguards like MJ......can't be that great in the end of the day!!!
He were weird to the world for sure, but how would you become if you were living his life.....no childhood, no ordinary love/care from home, a father who beats you! Clearly MJ wanted to give children what he himself didn't get, love and care.
I also belive that all the love that MJ gave to many children rises higher than all the bad rumors, people do often wants to see the worst in other people....I dunno why it is so, but it is......normal people loves to see rich people have problem thats it!!!
Children were not asking for more than friendship of MJ and they were honest to him, so he simply enjoys to be with children. Sad story but true in my eyes!!
I'm not a fanatic fan or something, just loves his fantastic music!!!
Well, just my thoughts, enjoy!! [smile]
My thoughts exactly.
In his cinema on Neverland he even had hospital beds for children who constantly needed to be connected to a drip.
It's a shame that for most adults everything always has to be about sex. People seem to be obsessed with it. There are a lot more important things in life than that.
Right now the discussions about if he was a virgin or not came up again (because of a comment by Brooke Shields btw). So what if he was! Maybe he thought he had better things to do in life... his music eg. Or maybe he just didn't want anyone to get that close... Lastly that's no one's business but his.
These kind of comments just make me wonder why sex is such a 'must do' in our society. Why is someone who doesn't such a weirdo to us?

Yes, I do enjoy your post! [smile]
To the quoted statement: If the invitation could be misunderstood by people I ask myself why nearly no-one blames the parents of those kids for giving the own children into the hands of a (I have to admit that) strange man?! Is that care and responsibility parents should have for their offsprings?
Don't misunderstand me, I believe in MJ's innocence, too.
I just ask myself why everyone accuses MJ and nearly no-one questions the behavior of the parents.
Money, money, money and some dubious intentions ?
I agree with all of you. I feel that the sleepovers were just that in MJ's eyes - sleepovers between friends. And so what if they got close? This world is twisted and sees the bad in everything. MJ I feel was far removed from that and didn't see things like the rest of the world does. It's the world that is wrong and so far removed from innocence.

Or as he himself said - "I'd rather slip my wrists" (upon the question if he had conducted inappropriate things with children).
"I'd rather slit my wrists." I remember that from the documentary.

Sorry - "slit" of course [smile] A slip from my part there!
It was during the interview with Ed Bradley on CBS 60 Minutes in 2003.
He also said it in an interview with the Mirror newspaper in the UK.
People simply prefer to see him as guilty, because that gives them a possibility to be outraged at another (rich and famous) person's conduct... that makes them feel as if they are on better and on the 'right' side of things.
It just cannot be possible that a person is famous, rich and good, because that would leave nothing for them to be.
It has now been reported that the police are even considering MJ may have been murdered:

Wow, that's difficult [?]...

Hmmm... Only ten:
Rock with you
Human Nature
Smooth Criminal
Liberian Girl
Leave Me Alone
In the Closet
Who Is It
Dangerous
They Don't Care about Us
Money
I can't assemble ten..., so...:
1. Smooth Criminal (for the bass-line)
2. Beat It! (for the Eddie van Halen solo)
3. Thriller (also for the Vincent Price "Rap")
4. Billie Jean (for itself)
That's all I think...
I really can't choose as each song suits a different mood so it depends on my mood. I do like Smooth Criminal best at the mo.
We've just ordered the live DVD of the show in Bucharest in 1992 on the Dangerous tour. D was there and he told me all about it ages ago and he thought now is an appropriate time to get it.
The Bucharest DVD is amazing. The amount of people at the concert is unbelievable and they are dancing and singing to the last row!
My current favourite didn't fit on the list... 'Morphine'. That one is easily one of his fiercest songs with a really beautiful middle part and very sad but fitting text...

Relax
This won't hurt you
Before I put it in
Close your eyes and count to ten
Don't cry
I won't convert you
There's no need to dismay
Close your eyes and drift away

Sad. Having had Demerol twice in the past, I can easily see how someone could become addicted to it.

To all of you "haters" - Some of your comments make me sorry I share the forum with you. Fact: The FBI investigated MJ for close to 20 years. Their findings were released under the Freedom of Information Act. Read it - It's 300 pages. Therefore your jokes are not funny. I thought people were more open minded here. It's such an old argument, it's not even worth defending.
Regarding MJ's personal life - None of you had to deal with the issues he had to, emotionally and physically. I know because he and I share some of those issues and believe me it can be hell dealing with people who don't know and blindly criticize because I am DIFFERENT from them.
Then you have those that take advantage.
Hollywood is nuts, crazy, insane. I was with a semi-well known producer, not even that famous (he produced one of Enya's records) and we just about got mobbed exiting a restaurant. I can't imagine dealing with that every time you go out.
I could explain a lot of the good bad about MJ - I'm not blind to him. But in the end, his music will live forever, and no one, not even AV, can move me the way his music can. And for that l love him unconditionally and I'm sorry for what he had to go through.
Unlike SOME of you, I feel sympathy for someone with weaknesses. After all, who are you to feel you are a better person????
Peace.
