View Full Version : DVD/CD from Tipi???
We've already started this discussion in the topic "NEW ALBUM" but it would be more appropiate to continue it here instead of hijacking that equally important topic!
So far all we know for certain is that the show was recorded on video as everyone could see the cameras (1 stationary + 1 or 2 handheld) and the microphones hanging over the audience. Before the show started 2 people were walking around the tent checking the sound in different areas which also indicates more than just ordinary "soundcheck".
It has been discussed whether or not Alphaville made this recording themselves but so far nothing has been confirmed...
So far these are the only "facts" about the recordings....everything else is speculation. So people....speculate and discuss this very intersting subject!!
Am I the only one who's not especially excited about Sat1 recording the show instead of AV themselves??? Sat1 have now had 3 months to look at/work on the material from the show but still there hasn't been anything shown on their TV channel from it (I suppose we would know if anything from Tipi had been on TV). I doubt that Sat1 recorded the show just to make a DVD! The show was about the 20th anniversary of Alphaville so this show should be shown on TV this year! There's only a month left to do that...
No matter what....the unplugged session from Tipi was "out-of-this-world" so it is something that has to be released in some way....if not a DVD then at least a CD!
Like I said in the other topic I think it's very likely that Alphaville will release a DVD (they say they are working on one) with both musicvideos and some of the songs from Tipi....
"Live in Tipi" on DVD would be great, but Iīm afraid itīs just wishful thinking, there are have been lots of AV shows with cameras on, without ever releasing anything, but maybe weīll be surprised one day.

Why do we have to discuss and speculate ? Why cant we get a direct answer from AV if they have any plans to release TIPI on DVD - TIPI and not just a DVD...
Since there were cameras there, i was sure that AV will release this show...
but now its just making me dissapointed...

But this show was so special! Why can't they make an exception? It's such a shame when it will never be available on dvd!
I donīt think there will be a DVD release of the TIPI show.
2 or even 3 cameras donīt look like a professional and serious recording of a big show, rather like bonus or archive material.
Ok, you donīt always need huge costs to reach good results, but
do you really think AV would cut down the level of a special
show to a low-budget looking film for a few hundred fans, who are used to high gloss productions?
As for Sat1: Donīt mistake the label for the company! Those were
freelancers or hired equipment.
You have to realize, that in entire germany AV donīt play any role in the media landscape anymore.
Just because, as it seems, they consciously said goodbye to the
industry and their games.
You can see it by all the nostalgic eighties and chart shows in
Germany: Only if itīs inavoidable cos of former chart success AV
usually find some mention on TV.
Most of the time theyīre ignored - and they ignore them, as I suppose.
You have a point there Justus. I've been in Germany 4 months now and not heard of Alphaville in any media anywhere. I'd be very surprised if SAT1 was/is involved at all.

Since when do we care what the media thinks about AV...?
Now this discussion has invaded to some strange levels...
DVD is one thing and SAT1 is another.
If AV didnt record the show or doesnt want to use the material that was recorded, its their decision.
As for SAT1, i dont care if they think that AV has 6 fans or 600 fans and they can do with their recorded stuff whatever they want !
My business is only with AV [wink]
@ alpha-x: Sorry, dear, but with that attitude you donīt need to discuss anything and stay in a glass house...

Thats not what i meant.......
In fact, i already sent an e-mail to SAT1 this morning asking if they know anything about this concert and if they are planning to air it.
I just said that i dont care what SAT1 thinks about AV but of course it would be fantastic if they will air it !!!
As for AV - im surprised like anyone else who also found out that AV werent the ones who recorded the show....
Like i wrote before, i thought that a Tipi DVD was obvious but i guess not...
Let's just be optimistic about this. There's not much we can do, but as long as there are fans, there's hope.
I watch your ass, you watch mine!

Thanx Adi! Then we can at least rule out 1 German TV channel. 1 down 100 or so to go...
No seriously....I think Justus is right. It wasn't a "big production" but rather some hired help. But I disagree with Justus about the quality of a DVD release from Alphaville. I don't believe Alphaville have the "means" nescessary for a high quality DVD production so I think Alphaville had the show recorded in order to perhaps make a DVD later on if the material recorded is good enough for it....whether or not it is that remains to be seen. We can only hope for the best !!!
Like Willy said....lots of shows have been recorded and only one (SLC) has been released so far. I also remember the story I heard about the unpluggedsession in SLC. The show was recorded on DAT-Tape and it was intended to be released later on...but the quality of the recording wasn't good enough so Marian threw it away. As far as I know this story has never been confirmed by Alphaville so I don't know if it's only strong rumours or in fact reality...
@ Poul: I agree. AV wouldnīt invest the means necessary etc., still I only can imagine these material appearing in excerpts
as bonus or something - nevertheless, weīll see.

Justus is probably right. After all, in Little America Brady was the one who pushed the whole DVD project...
Bless him for that [love]
