Do you think there are too many crap posts at the forum ?

Jonatan
01 Dec 2003, 19:09
I don't know. Haven't voted yet. I'm afraid the forum would die if there weren't so many crap-post...

Jonatan
01 Dec 2003, 19:18
Now I voted "I can't get enough crap" because I got kind of irritated by Avil's posts. [bah][mean]

@Jonatan: I don't think it would die, but it would certainly not be as active as it is now! There IS a lot of crap-posts but I just don't see it as a problem. It's also a question of where and in which topics the "crap-talk" is going on. In topics in the "General Conversation forum" I don't care at all how much crap there is. But in more serious topics I don't like it if there is too much crap. But as it is now it's pretty well-balanced.

Can't vote and this is why. We all know that Alphaville news and stuff is thin on the ground from time to time. In times like that, what else do we talk about? Not only that, sometimes I'm not in the mood to read so called 'crap' posts, so I just skip over them. Othertimes I'm in a daft mood and join in. Don't see a problem. Like I said, it's all about balance...and changing attitudes from day to day too I suppose. We all join in the 'crap' posts from time to time.

Kaz

Ok, I voted 'don't care', cos I don't (but mainly cos I wanted to see what the score was [laugh]). Let's just have fun eh?

First time I can't decide what to vote...

And what is to much? Don't forget that sometimes crap makes it more fun to read.

Will think once before I vote!

I don't even know why this is a poll...... I understand Avil's point of view, but the forum has grown and it is not the same place it was a year ago - yes, its unfortunate that Avil was chastised a year ago, but the truth is there are others who have been chastised within the past six months for posting crap so its not fair to say that Avil has been singled out - she has not been.

The beauty of a forum is that you don't have to read everything - you are not even obligated to read every posting under a topic if you don't want to. There will always be a small percentage of crap postings - and that seems like a lot more now because the forum is almost 800 people - it will remain that way forever as long as people are free to speak their minds.

The Dreamkeepers are committed to watching this and have sent out gentle reminders from time to time - but what this does not need to be is a moderated forum like the mailing list - that will kill it for sure.

as for voting - I don't think I will on this one, but that is just me.

Keep On Posting (just be nice)!!

I really don't care... as long as we all enjoy it, it doesn't matter at all... there is only one thing that counts: that we respect (and love) each other. And tell me: is there anything that really matters?... So keep on posting, all you fools (including me, of course [wink] ) [thumbup]

*sends out a Forum-hug with this post [love2] *

There is good and bad crap in this world. So the rise and fall of a forum depends on the
people who express themselves there. I do care on quality.

Only 12 people have voted so far [disappro] That's dissapointing! If you don't care then please vote that you don't care! And don't be afraid to voice your opinion on this either. It's an anonymous poll so unless you write in the topic what you voted noone will know...

But at least so far it doesn't seem like the members think that crap posts is a problem...

Yes, please vote - none of us can see who votes what, so please go ahead and vote.

Thanks

I voted 'I think it's well balanced'. Like I've told you Willy many times, even the first day I joined you(almost a year ago) that the forum is great! There has got to be crap also, because that's the way people have got known each other here better and it's always releaving... [smile]

Avil

I don't care if the crap-posts are in the general-area. But they aren't.

But I don't care anymore. Off-topic or not, just posts. As long as you're happy. Just sad that everyone seems to get irritated on me when I say what I think. But I wont discuss this any further.
Sure, this isn't the same place I once joined, things change.

Live well.

@Avil, this is the same place, just much bigger - come on, and be happy !!

Avil
08 Dec 2003, 23:10
It's a totally different atmosphere. Not saying that it's bad, just different. And I'm happy.

I realize that I don't make anyone happier with my irritated posts.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinions - that has never changed. What can we do to make you even more happy ?

Avil
09 Dec 2003, 00:28
You don't have to do anything. As long as you're happy, I'm satisfied.

Jonatan
09 Dec 2003, 00:48
Avil - are you "sur"? [laugh]

Agnes
09 Dec 2003, 01:56
@Jonatan: [laugh] [evil] [laugh] [laugh]

Anyway, if you were satisfied, Avil, you would not say such things as you did earlier, I think... (But of course I don't want to interfere in your own business.)

@Avil: If you were the same person you were when you joined the forum would you still think there was too much crap??? You say that you haven't changed but the forum has....In my opinion both have changed....the forum because it's bigger....you probably because you're older and don't spend nearly as much time here as you used to do....

and btw....I'm happy as well about how the forum is these days....

My age hasn't anything to do with all this.
And no, I'm not here as often as before. I do have the time to be here (because I'm active on other political forums) but I choose not to be because of different reasons.

And Jonatan. No, I'm not "sur". Just tired.

poul e

Anyway Avil....YOU have also changed (that was my point - don't care about the reason) not just the forum!

And like Willy said...cheer up! We have a new "Headlines" coming really soon and lots of exciting AV stuff to look forward to in 2004. Why be bothered by some small-talk in the forum??!? Better to have 30 messages a day (with 30% not so serious) than 3 messages a day (and some of those would also be unserious anyway)...

Well... back in 2001 I started "The Unserious Crap Topic" for general use.
Maybe there's too many topics and maybe some of the could merge into one.
The crap post make the forum more alive though... what you're listening to right now and if you want to tell the world when you're drunk [wink]

I think we did a good job through the years to keep people starting new topics about the same subjects and writing too much crap in topics were it´s not welcome, we have the General Conversation forum for that, and it´s working very well. The big question though is:

Peter, why did you wake up this old topic ?

And I agree, it is fun with all the crap in the crap-topics.

How is the "crap-level" now my dear friends? Since that dr. Bunny left the forum and is on holiday on Hawaii.... (hopes that the vulcano explode...)

I like to read posts and one man (or woman's) crap is another's interesting post. If someone wants to post it then someone at least finds it interesting and how else will we become posting machines?

The new topics that make the forum alive made me remember this very true statement, and gave me the perfect pretext to dig out this old thread.

Many newer forummers haven't seen this topic and/or haven't voted... it would be interesting to have your opinions on this... [smile2]

I think there are too many but hey, this is a forum so its sort of expected that you will have more crap posts than not! No big deal really.

Have you noticed that the so-called "crap" posts have become fewer since the release of the single and video and the impending release of the album? And isn't that the beauty of democracy in that people don't have to vote if they don't want to?
