I had it on video, but the quality was bad - I did plan to offer the graphics on our website, but it´s not very interesting anyway, and Alphaville do not appear anywhere.

nothing with av??
hmm..well from my opinion they are the centre of the music making..are they afraid of showing themselves??
like to see the band members moove just to be sure of that they are real, like in a video..but the world is so shit today that they only show britney spears and backstreet boys on the screen..dude that makes me mad!!

Hi defender,

no there's nothing with AV on the Graphic CD Breathtaking Blue. I saw it one time and I was very surprised how bad it is. This is only my opinion but I think that Breathtaking Blue is not one of the best AV albums. 'Romeos' is one of my favourite songs but thats the only good song of TBB, I think.

Greetings from MC Morlock

The only good song from TBB is She fades away...

I like the demo version of She Fades Away on Dreamscapes better than the TBB version....

sorry: no matter which audio cd you play on a playstation: you'll get graphics and shapes.
the graphics of TBB consist of black/white photograph and lyrics in different languages.

poul e
07 Apr 2003, 21:23
Marian could be in the logo as an angel and Bernhard as a pope....then we would have Alphaville and Atlantic Popes in the logo....

wii
07 Apr 2003, 21:27
A logo should be simple...

poul e
07 Apr 2003, 21:36
I agree Willy....but as last time we talked about this we agreed that itīs very hard to include the words "The Dreamroom", "Alphaville" AND "Atlantic Popes" in the same logo.....Iīm just trying to make suggestions of how to avoid using all 3 names...

And a small AV sign of some sort and a popesign in the logo could be an idea....

wii
07 Apr 2003, 21:37
There IS a AV sign.

hardin
08 Apr 2003, 13:48
I don't think the pope is nessicary. If you look at the top of your browser it already said "The Dreamroom - alphaville / atlantic popes".
I think it's enough... a logo must be the simply as possible.

wii
08 Apr 2003, 15:01
Exactly hardin - all pages at the forum will have the title in the browser !! but in any case, Iīm still thinking of a way to put the AP relation at the top, it will NOT be in the logo.

Agnes
08 Apr 2003, 15:03
[question] What about putting simply the two pope-tiaras right next to the Dreamroom-logo?...

wii
08 Apr 2003, 15:06

poul e
08 Apr 2003, 22:50
I canīt decide which is best.....try adding the clouds so we can see the "full logo".

wii
08 Apr 2003, 22:54
Maybe clouds are best - without them itīs too much NFL over it.

poul e
08 Apr 2003, 23:00

Hello,

This is maybe a strange question I have, if it is a question at all! :-)

I got two times the CD TBB.

The first one I have from 1990 and the second one I bought now.

Is it normal that there are differences between both?

- The color of the cd is not the same
- On the first one I see 'manufactured in Germany by Teldec Record Serves GmbH', the second one only mention 'Made in Germany'
- On my first one I see two times 'ALPHAVILLE', like it is a misprint - on the second only one time.
- The fonts are also different

Can someone explain maybe???

Thanks!

News about my CD....

You don't own the "normal" cd-graphic-images CD but the

technique.

There is one way that I know of, even though there may be more ways to see it.

I read what it says on the CD, the booklet and the case.

I have this gold foil sticker on the back of my TBB CD case.

Data/2003521192340_golden sticker.gif

In my TBB booklet it says about this:

Data/2003521235754_TBB-booklet.gif

On the TBB CD itself it says GRAPHICS on the right hand side.

Data/200352123494_TBB_graphics.gif

All these things combined make me believe that I have a disc which is capable to show this hidden treasure.

Unfortunately I have never seen it [sad]

@FallenAngel:

If Iīm right now thereīs a one "normal" CD that looks like a normal CD and you can listen to the music in your stereo....if you have a CD at home from the album you have the "normal" CD and can look at the graphics in some special machines (like some Playstations) and than thereīs a CD VIDEO that looks like a golden 12" vinyl but are thicker than a ordinary vinyl and hard. On that "vinyl" you can look at all the videos that are on the VHS-version from TBB.

But you need a special machine thatīs a sort of ancient DVD technique to look at the "golden"-CD....

Krapplund
22 May 2003, 11:27

2) one with audio and the GRAPHICS
3) one with audio and the short movie collection (golden disc)

there's a little confusion : The Wall tells the story about the rock-star named Pink (christian name) Floyd (last name), so in the movie the little boy is the young Pink.

Amazing because AV music & lyrics has some connections w/ PF. For example, see like one the of "Waiting !" sung in Soul Messiah is nearly the same as the "Waiting!" in Waiting For The Worms. No kidding !

Alphaville "The Breathtaking Blue" Atl 81943 A series of black and white photographs are panned and scanned while the lyrics (1 - English, 2 - French) are constantly displayed below the pictures.

I'd be very interested to know how the lyrics have been translated in french, and who did it!!!

Something is surprising...at the time, the Cd+G format was to disapear, but thanks to the Karaoke wave the format experiences a rebirth, mostly for the lyrics display of course. Be my karaoke king ! (and keep us informed if the software works...)

I've tried to make the CD+G software programs to work to see the images from The Breathtaking Blue but I never got it to work. About 10 years of testing on almost all computers/drives/systems I've had access to. Every time there was a problem that I couldn't solve. Thanks to Krapplund's pictures I realized that it was possible so I tried one more time, this time with the new softwares. It didn't work... on my DVD reader, but it DID work on my old CD-recorder that I never tested before! I just made .bin files from the CD and I can watch them on my HD...

- My CD has the Graphics logo.
- About the language of the lyrics I haven't figured that out yet. On one player (that only plays 45 sek in demo version) it was the english lyrics but when I made binary files with another program the lyrics were in German. Don't know why. But when I know how to get the french translation I will let you know, jetset.
- I can make screen captures. I have started to save all pictures from the first three songs. The pictures are black & white and very small (288x166) and the lyrics are listed below the picture. So far there are just over ten pictures for every track.

Thank you for the info.Eager to see that.

According to the "user's guide", you can use the following command line switch :
The /LANG <language number> option selects the language of the lyrics
(if any) that are displayed when the music is playing. The numbers are:
1 - English
2 - Spanish
3 - French
4 - German
5 - Italian

Talkin about encoding, maybe it's a newbie comment but when playing AV CDs using Winamp (except Crazy Show), the CDDB function retrieves all the CD infos : band name, CD name, songs list. Unfortunatly, it ain't CD-Text. Have you ever notice this ?

I have just bought the Medion 40814 DVD player as it plays CD/DVD/MP3/DIVX/MPEG/JPEG/XVID etc etc. It's Ģ50 from Amazon in the UK but I have seen it in ALDI in Austria for 80 euros.

So I burnt all my Alphaville videos/tv shows to disc and they played perfectly. The quality wasn't too bad as most were poor quality to start with (still waiting for the official release!!).

But I thought I would try and see if it passed the ulimate test and played something I've never seen! The Breathtaking Blue CD+G. And yes it does, for the first time ever I've seen the pictures!! Ok they are not that fantastic but someone went to a lot of trouble to put the concept together and match the theme to the songs.

So if you are in the market for a new DVD player then go no further. It also plays downloaded divx films burnt to CD-R...apparently [wink]

There are some captions from the CD+G in this forum, thanks to Tommie-I was glad to see that the DOS software I found out was working.

As for the DVD player, I think I have the right one (Divx compatible + upgradable firmware), but I own the BB version without the encoded stills...so if someone got one CD to sell/trade...

By the way, the standalone Karaokee players do play CD+Graphics, and should decode the BB pictures "fingers in the nose".

Hello, there!

In 1990 I bough my original CD+G 'The Breathtaking Blue'.
In 1997 I watch my copy on a old SEGA SATURN Video Game.
Last week I watch it on a DVD Player Phillips I bough to my son as a Xmas gift.

Today I use it finally at computer.

You will need 2 softwares:

TriceraSoft CDG Ripper
TriceraSoft WinCDG Pro 2

Download at www.tricerasoft.com

Note: the software CDG to AVI unfortunatelly don't work.

With TriceraSoft CDG Ripper you will rip the CD+G to your HD; and
With TriceraSoft WinCDG Pro 2 you can reproduce the videos at your computer.

Both are limited to 60 seconds only.

Here's the first 3 images of SUMMER RAIN:

02-Photos and interviews from the period;

For a short time (a couple of days), we had one of those CD-i players that could play a CD+G disc. I tried it with TBB, and we only got through the first track. Having the lyrics on the screen was pretty cool, but considering that it was done in 1989, there really wasn't much they could do with images at the time.

No other things we have around here can show this stuff, at least I'm sure of it. It doesn't work in CD-Roms, DVD players or my PS3, just plays the music.

I have to admit, the pictures are a lot more abstract than I expected them to be. Also, they are black and white, which sort of invokes a historical feel. For me, Alphaville always seems to be looking to the future and the past at the same time!

Alright... I think I have been conned.

All this time I have assumed I have a CD+G, but only now have I realised that the files are all .cda, not .cdg or anything else, so it seems my BTB with the big "Graphics" label is just another CD. [grumpy]

No Malila, so long as your physical CD shows the CD+G logo, you have the right version [wink]
What you see is an information file Windows creates for each track. The graphics are encoded directly in the audio files.

Ok, I finally came up with a free technical solution for those who hold the CDG TBB, so here is my tutorial :

[PART 1 / The Ripping]

- Download the free software Audiograber at http://www.audiograbber.org/download.html (http://www.audiograbber.org/download.html)
- Install, then run Audiograber
- Insert the CD in your CD-drive
- Menu : CD\Extract CDG tracks\Extract to CDG+WAV. You may first choose a destination folder for the generated files in the main options.
- Select all tracks, click on the "Extract" icon, then let the ripping process go.

[PART 1 / The Playing]

Actually there's a bunch of free CDG players that will do the job, such as Karaoke Builder CD+G Player (http://www.karaokebuilder.com/kbdown.php (http://www.karaokebuilder.com/kbdown.php))
- Download, install and run the player
- Select a CDG file then click play

Note that very few softwares propose the channels switch (ENG/GER), and are mostly not freewares.

thanks for all!
but, the pics of the Particia's Park were already? I didn't see them.

Particia's Park stills are planned :)
The photos animation is different from the other tracks, in a way like Song For No One clip it's a continuous plan, it starts from a high point then descends on a horizontal view, to end/resume with an ascending angle. Therefore the board will betray the spirit.

Yes Malila, and because of the scrolling, making a seamless one was not a piece of cake...

Anyone tried the software for the CD+G itself?

@Clare: It didn't work for me... the software looks for .cdg or .bin files, but all you can see in windows is a list of .cda files. [bah]
But thanks to jetset's dedication, the converter worked fantastically. [smile2]

Yes, unless you own a standalone compatible device, you have to desinterleave the data (part1 of the tutorial) then play the generated files (part2).
