Yeah we got something like 15 new members within 24 hours!!! And the amount of new messages is crazy!!! This is THE place to be for fans of Alphaville & Atlantic Popes!!!
We had over 700 unique visitors within 24 hours at www.alphaville and forum - thatīs a new record !

AWESOME!!! I have to believe that Bernhard's message to the mailing list had to have helped - I have never seen so many visitors before and they are all checking out the chat transcript!
Average on www.alphaville.org and forum is about 350 unique visitors a day, so we are doing very well here.

We will be the largest Alphaville community in the world in a few months.
Probably because over here anyone can speak out their opinion free - while the official list has got some... ehm... limits in this field. [wink]
I had heard this forum mentioned from time to time over the last few years and always intended to come see what it was all about, but somehow never got around to it...(I know, shame on me [wink], I guess I was busy when I was still a student or something...). But I am so glad to finally be here, after five weeks or so, I definitely [love2] this forum! Both friendly and informative, and a whole group of people who understand the "Alphaville thing"...bring wonderful things [bouncy]. Love and PEACE!!!!!

This, of course, depends on the fact that we got a general discussion area where you are aloowed to write almost anything you want and how much you want. On the forum, you can discuss everything, but the list is only Alphaville.

yes, there have been very few postings for a long time and now all of a sudden there are too many and they are all just rude and obnoxious - people believe what they are going to believe and being rude or demeaning to them on a mailinglist is just not cool! But you are right Poul e, if this continues it will drive them all out and they can come here where its much more peaceful and conducive to discussion.
@Willy - when is the forum's three year birthday? Now that should be an event yes?
The 3 year birthday is 8 nov 2003 and yes, weīll arrange something special for the occasion.

Yes at this speed thereīs a chance that we get there sometime this summer....
If we donīt count this period (after Bernds announcement) we have an average of 14 new members a month, so using that average we should get there by august 2003.

The mailinglist usercount has been very "stable" in a long time, so Iīm not too worried...

I enjoyed the mailing list when there was a real discussion. It's been dead for so long. When the world is going mad, to discuss only Alphaville seems very strange to me.

well, the thing about the mailinglist is that it will go for soooo long with nothing important or even interesting to say - here there are always interesting topics and new things to talk about both about Alphaville and not about Alphaville.....

The mailinglist have lost a couple of members lately so even if we haven't been growing especially fast the past month the gap between the 2 AV places have been narrowed down to the smallest ever.....37.
Great !!! Weīll get there eventually. Canīt wait to announce it once it happens - weīll celebrate !!!
I've only seen one message on the mailing list in the last 5 days. I got worried that I wasn't getting the messages, and checked on yahoo groups, but I suspect few are posting. It's quite busy here though.
Yeah, the forum has actually always been more busy - I say, forget about the list and get in here, hopefully someday Moonbase will see this. In any case Yahoo Groups is a free service, I donīt expect them to last forever...

@JP: you are so damn true!!!!! For a long time I have the very straight feeling that this place is much friendlier and much more person-oriented than the official mailing list. Sometimes that place is way too "official" for me, as that is a moderated place, therefore people can't talk about anything... (Though it is true that they tried the unmoderated mode once, during the Iraq war and you could see the result... [devil]
@Toni: I can truly understand what you feel - there are other Hungarian members than me, I know about a few of them (one of them is my husband [love] [wink] ) but I think most of them are silent dreamers... [sad]

It's fantastic that we finally reached 700 members and we are already well past it with now 706 members. We are also closer to the mailinglist than ever before with the gap now down to 30. The next milestones are 250 active members, 750 members, 50000 posts, 1500 topics and of course being as big (or bigger) than the mailinglist.....
But remember, the size doesnīt matter...
