Which is your favorite band besides Alphaville?

davidhorizon
31 Dec 2002, 14:49
That's a short list! Where is Ultravox? ...Anyway, I voted Duran Duran off course.

31 Dec 2002, 14:53
Obviously we can´t have all the bands in the world listed, that´s why there´s "other", where everyone can post another band they prefer over the above.

I voted Depeche Mode of course...

Jonatan
31 Dec 2002, 15:18
I would have voted for De/Vision or 18 Summers but I had to vote 'other'...I don't like those eighties bands!

Avil

I could have voted a-ha, but it would have only been a half-truth. I could mention also: BeeGees, Ultravox, Deep Purple, Foreigner, Herbert Grönemeyer or Red Hot Chilly Peppers. So I chose "other" (hey Russ, I am sure such a band exists).

I voted for "other", which would be Erasure!!! Alphaville and Erasure might be the only two bands that I have adored since the eighties, and still love. Bernhard...Vince...[love2] the synths.

boblinda
03 Apr 2003, 04:47
You make it tough Willy, because I like them all, and have all their CD's....hard choice...put I guess it should be Pet Shop Boys....

Phoenix

I voted for A-ha though the last two albums of the group are rather colorless...But I love their earlier stuff...The Sun Always Shines On TV is one of the greatest songs of that period, to my mind.

Couldnt agree more, Sparks are my childhood heroes and remain my favourite to this day so they get my vote! AV fans might like their ''No. 1 In Heaven'' album which is possibly the first synth pop album ever and also the ''Gratuitous Sax and Senseless Violins'' and ''Balls'' albums will probably be of interest. The last album ''Lil Beethoven'' sounds like nothing else ever made as is a must hear!

Sparks are damn cool. *sighs* There´s so much to recommend... A proper conditioning drug
might be "Plagiarism" , which is some kind of tribute album to themselves.

simpledumbpilot
14 Jan 2004, 14:35
Agreed, Plagiarism is a very good starting point, it has a bit of everything altho I dont think it represents the guitar based stuff very well, and I dont like those collaborations with Faith No More but I think people here would probably be more interested in the synth stuff tho.

Duran Duran at the moment. I've been a new A-ha fan for a whole week and a half, though.

Rammstein isn't an option in the quiz, though! *blink*

De/Vision!!!

My taste in music varies. I could be listening to AV one day, something harder the next.

My favorite all-around is Van Halen. As far as which era (David Lee Roth, Sammy Hagar, whoever...), it doesn't matter to me, so long as the music still kicks!

Loralai
30 Dec 2008, 07:35
This is a difficult choice. I listen to just about everything but if I were stuck on a desert Island and had music from only two bands to choose the other choice would be Queen. Of course I would sneak in Fleetwood Mac's Rumours.

davidhorizon
30 Dec 2008, 11:31
Mylene Farmer at the moment. Before it was Ultravox.

Richani
30 Dec 2008, 13:22
"other" because I love Ultravox..

Mateusz

I have liked a band called Shriekback for a long time and they also continue to record after starting in the early 80's like Alphaville. They probably have a more obscure fanbase than Alphaville.

Foolship1077
12 Feb 2009, 22:26
I just started hearing Shriekback's stuff recently, thanks to the XM Radio station.

They call it "1st Wave" now; it used to be "Fred on 44" up to the time they merged with Sirius.

Anyway, they do have some good stuff!

I almost chose PSB, since it's band I like from the list (especially Fundamental is great), but there is one band that is definetely second best after AV and that is Dire Straits. I'm surprised nobody mentioned it before [smile2] World is full of great bands, but AV and DS are definetely the best, since I like almost all of their songs, not just one or two.

I'm a hardcore collector of stuff with and connected to The Beloved.....I do also collect Depeche Mode, Erasure, Pet Shop Boys and Yazoo......Alphaville have made so many great tracks though I've never collected all their releases but few singles and albums.

Hi, everybody! I can't say that I'm a fan of any other group also. I simply like some songs of this or that group. And this or that group can be of my interest and respect. I voted "others".
Alphaville is the true music of my inner world. It's a poetry! And the voice of Marian is the most pleasant suffering of mine!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
