Ever heard of Iris??
I think that they are one of the best bands ever. And the singer has the moste beautiful voice I´ve ever heard! (Not incl Marian of course) You should really listen to Iris...Wonderful!

Well,there were rumours that this band had split up, but they will release a new album in a couple of months so this is not true!

I don't really like Iris, except for the "Annie would I lie to you"-song. I don't like to vocals, sorry Avil, but the singer can't sing, <img src=icon_smile_tongue.gif border=0 align=middle>

What??? I think that the singer is one of the best ever, as I said, sometimes even better than Marian!

I think they are both great singers, but the donīt fit for the same songs.

Ok...I think Iris has improved a lot!
On www.electrogarden.com you can listen to a whole song from their new album.
It sounds very promising!

Great track - love the synths, a little dark, but not too much for my taste - the voice is interesting.
Jonatan, have you heard their first album?
I like their new material, their new album Awakening will be released next month, so excited!!
But I wouldnīt say they are dark at all, just ordinary synth.
As you might now, one of the members left Iris, and was replaced with another guy, and I donīt hear the difference!! Itīs great.
However, Iris really got a great vocalist!

Yeah I heard their first album. The songs were far too sweet for me, except for "Annie would I lie to You".
Sweet wouldnīt be the exact world to desribe them.
Their first album Disconnect is one of few full-lenghts I really like, all songs! Itīs a perfect album.

I love Iris! A friend played Disconnect for me just before I moved to Berlin and I have been searching for it ever since...so last night when I went to the De/Vision show I was very surprised and happy to see that Iris was opening. It was their first time ever in Europe (they're from Texas, US), they did a great job!
So, after the concert I was so mad at myself when I saw that Iris was selling their CDs, and I didn't have enough money to buy them [banghead]. Just the same I went to talk to Iris (Reagan & Andrew, both really cute by the way...) who were signing the CD inlets...they were psyched there was someone at the show who knew their music, and from the US...so we talked and talked, they gave me their two albums [smile2], and invited me to hang out with them and De/Vision backstage. Way way cool...I had so much fun!!!
I really love both the albums - Awakening is deeper sounding, more emotive than Disconnect. I need to think about it to decide which are my favourites. Iris's website is www.irismusic.com . I think they have some music samples there...
btw - Reagan (the singer) thinks Forever Young is one of the greatest, most timeless songs ever written. He was quite surprised to meet someone who knew all of Alphaville's and a-ha's albums [wink].

I love Awakening! It's much better than Disconnect IMHO.
Iris is the hope for the American synth scene (which isn't that good to be honest....).
@Jonatan....so true. The synth scene is so much better in Europe...it is rather sad in the US.
Iris is playing a festival in Sweden this Friday....have no idea if it is close to any of you but I would highly recommend going to hear them if you can. They played a great concert in January and were very nice to talk to people afterwards [smile]. The festival's website is www.arvikafestivalen.se .
They are also doing a small tour in the US in August.

I have yet to see them live. Hopefully they will be playing in Vegas this spring with mesh!! I am so excited over that.

Hi all,
Having finally recovered after yesterday's concert, I'm now ready to share some memories and impressions :) Pictures will follow in the middle of the week.
The setlist of the Moscow show:
1. Vacant
2. Lands On Fire (from the upcoming album)
3. Sorrow Expert
4. Lose In Wanting
5. Whatever
6. In Spite
7. Waves Crash In
8. Annie
9. When I'm Not Around
10. Appetite (from the upcoming album, but performed during previous concerts)
11. Unknown (Subrosa)
12. The Earth (with DJ Ram)
The concert lasted for about an hour, as expected. Reagan was wearing jeans, a striped white shirt and a hat; Andrew was in a cherry shirt and black trousers. The audience went mad during the very first song and remained in this condition until the very end, waiving lighters during "When I'm Not Around" and persistently requesting the band to come back after "Unknown" (that's how we got to hear the 'not really planned' performance of "The Earth"). As far as I understood, the guys didn't really have time to arrange proper rehearsals and it was probably the first time they ever played for an hour, so in connection with that I must say I'm amazed about the quality of the show.
Some observations:
1. When Regan is performing, he dances like nobody else in the synthpop world. His movements are truly unique. It's great that he doesn't try to imitate Dave Gahan or Steffen Keth.
2. I loved the stardust in Regan's eyes when he was performing, for instance, "When I'm Not Around". Extremely touching. And his voice is just as strong and powerful as in the studio. Bravo!!!!!!!!
3. I loved Andrew's sense of humour and straightforwardness in everything he does. I haven't felt so happy that for ages being around him!!!!!!! :)
4. It was not only one of the best concerts in my life, but also definitely the best afterparty ever. Chatting, laughing, drinking champagne and fooling around - what a great night it was!
5. The audience reacted so positively, even though half of the people came to see the gothic PROJECT PITCHFORK. I'm really happy Russians were not disappointing.
6. Andrew, remember - you swore on the virtual Bible to bring Iris back to Moscow next year....... :) And to write a detailed report about the first trip :)
Some disappointments:
1. The stage was not lit enough during most of the show, sometimes just dark. Must have something to do with the club's light engineer.
2. Too much bass overload during "When I'm Not Around". Must have something to do with the club's sound engineer.
3. I was kind of hoping that Iris live sounds really different from Iris in studio, but in fact there's not much difference. On the other hand, it would have been a much bigger disappointment to get completely different versions of the songs or to hear Reagan singing out of tune :)
4. It's not that Reagan doesn't look good enough with the current haircut or in a hat, it's just that he looks simply irresistible with slightly longer hair :)
P.S. Andrew, thanks for the kissing game in the end of the afterparty :) I'm sure you don't remember anything, but it was great :) And also big thanks for such a great conversation, for bearing with all my endless questions and for entertaining us with your singing and dancing, that was COOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL :):):):)

As a witness of this event I wanna add that Andrew is really great gossip. He told so many interesting things about other bands. [laugh]
And he even sang a bit of Forever Young for us. [laugh]
And when suddenly Alphaville's Dance With Me from Forever Pop started playing and I was reacting rather loudly to that, he said "I'm not jealous to Alphaville. That's ok!" [laugh]
And he won in this "kissing game"... [laugh]
And I was only listening to remember everything later.
Oh yeah, and... the concert was good, but the aftershow party was really GREAT!

@Olga and Elena, I enjoyed reading your comments. Reagan and Andrew are totally cool and I had a blast a year ago (such an awesome surprise since I didn't even know Iris was opening for De/Vision). They are really great guys and I'm glad to hear they are getting the attention they deserve [approve]. I hope they come back to Berlin, I am there!!!
And Andrew remembers you. [smile2] He told us the story again. [smile2]
