I´ve expanded the "Active Topics" menu to also show for the last 6 hours, 12 hours and 2 days to make it even easier to see what´s going on at the forum - so it now looks like this:

I made a few changes today.

Hot topics (topics with more than 10 replies) will show burning (before it was 5 replies). Also topics with more than 1 page (like "love") will now show the total pagenumbers (even at the "active topics" page), so it´s easier to get to the last page and see the last post.

Some people argued that they want to show their discography here, maybe we can have a section dedicated to that - what do you think?

Private Messages:

please remember that you can set your private messages to send you an e-mail everytime you receive one, just like you can do with any topic at the forum. This setting is done in the "preference" at private messages.

There´s also a memberslist where you can see the usernames of all the members of the forum, and also do a search for a specifik member. When you found the member you want to send a private message to, just click on the http://www.alphaville.org/forum/pm.gif and the message is ready to be sent.

How about an addition to Active Topics that shows all topics you are involved in? This way everyone can easily find things they may have been talking about in the past but can't remember which topic.

Added paging to topic stats, so the page should load much quicker now, when divided in (currently) 28 pages of topics. "Love" still number 1, and Atlantic Popes topics are number 2, 4, and 5 on the toplist.

Trent, since the MSN Messenger doesn't have web-based status indicators (other than within MSN Messenger itself, or via Hotmail) or a way to send an IM without having MSN Messenger open, it's kinda impossible to add MSN to the forum.

Private Messages (added functionality)

You can now send PMs to more than 1 Dreamer at the time, just separate the member name with a comma.

Someone asked if the PMs are really private. The answer is YES - not even the administrator (me) can read them, so go ahead and use them for you most personal conversations (at least I do).

Private Messages (added functionality)

Now you will see a message scrolling just under the forum logo when receiving a new private message. Hope you like it! For Netscape users the text will not scroll, since Netscape doesn´t support it (among many other things).

I didn't know where else to post this...But I think I know why some peoples messages are getting doubled and sometimes tripled...Sometimes when I post a new post I get an error message and it says to go back and try again..Instead of doing that one day when I got that message I just said chuck it in and went on..but it posted me message anyway...So you don't really have to go back and try again...it will post anyway

Was just talking to me boyfriend and he just joined the forum with a new name...A more Alphaville name =)...Well anyway we were talking and he mentioned it would be good to have an AV for beginners section or something, since he is pretty new to AV he's a bit lost here in this forum since he doesn't know that much about AV....He said "A place where any question can be asked from a beginner AV fan and it not be a dumb question" And maybe even a new people introduction part!? Might bring some of the new people out and get us to know them better with a brief intro...So they can wade into the pool slowly and not feel they have to bellyflop in heh!

Some of you have probably heard about some terrible viruses floating around the internet. There´s no need to worry about the forum, because I have daily backup of the database, so even if the whole database got infected, I would be able to get it back up in no time...

What about some kind of an open guestbook, in sweden we call it "klotterplank", where you can write a message to the whole forum. This could be placed somewhere on the first page, where all the topics are, right under "you are logged in as..."
The you could ask people to come and chat without having to send a PM to everyone.
You could see like one input at the time...

As some of you probably noticed the "view" statistics for each topic is completely wrong, the numbers are too low to be true, looking at the love topic which has right now 1057 replies, but only 718 has read it??? of course that´s not right. The only topics that are counted correctly are the poll topics. I will try to figure out what is going on. I know it´s not so important, but I need something to do.

Thanks guys, sometime in a few months I will have some more changes to the forum done that you gonna love - more about that later.

My first priority right now is to make sure that the chat runs like it should - and so far it does.

There are still some forum bugs that needs attention, but they are minor things that are not so important. For example the active user page shows the same user several times sometimes - that will be fixed (among other things).
