Flame is my absolut favourite AV-song. Is there anyone who thinks like me?
Just listen to it, it´s so full of emotions, and you just want to cry when Marian sings "Love is the answer,love is all we need my friend" Gosh!

Flame is really good. It´s my girlfriends favourite AV track (she´s not an AV fanatic) and it´s also among my 5 favourite AV songs.

I like Flame to a certain extent (sorry Clare!) but it's one of those songs that I can take or leave. It doesn't have the 'oomph factor' that some other AV songs do and is probably my least fave on 'Salvation'. Would love to know why Marian doesn't like it too.

seriously, I said somewhere that this song lacks something that could touch me. if to talk about the lyrics I like much more how it is in Thunder & Lightning...

Maybe it has something to do with the story of how he wrote it? I read somewhere that he had a little blackout to write, and one day he was looking at the blue flame in the kitchen and he started writing...

Of course, I can't remember where I read that, and I can't be sure that's a real story... (so please, nobody sue me) [smile2]

all I know is that Marian Hates Universal Daddy the most.... didn't know that he didn't like Flame though.......

Flame is my sister in law's (her name is Samara) absolute FAVORITE Alphaville song!

Yeah. Know that Marian hates UNIDAD. Still not clear why though. I love the music (though the lyric is a bit naff?? again, sorry Marian [laugh])

The first time I heard Flame was at the Green Street show in SLC on 15 July 1999. (Had no idea at the time about Salvation's release [ashamed]). That night was so magical, it was a perfect, warm summer evening, I could hardly believe that Marian was just a few feet away from me after loving him for so many years. With the opening chord of Flame, I heard the word flame whispered through the crowd and people held up their lighters, and as I listened my breath was taken from me, the song was so beautiful...so beautiful and moving...

Flame has been my 2nd favorite Alphaville song (next to Forever Young) ever since. Maybe it is a little sappy, but I don't care. I think the sentiment expressed is perfect. [love][love][love]

Peace deep in our hearts, all things must pass, but we'll be together......

I admit, I don't like Flame. I know some people can't believe that anyone could not like this song, but to me it sounds like a boyband (standard issue). As Alien said, the words sound so much better on Thunder and Lightning, maybe because they seem so much less sentimental. Maybe I'm getting cynical in my advanced age, but I have to skip the song. I haven't even watched it on the DVD yet.

After so much years I finally know the origin of "The Flame", one of my favourites songs:

( )......"Flame" is just a love song. One cold November afternoon I was sitting in the kitchen, the only heated room in our house at Magesq facing the dramatic problem of not having the slightest idea for an appropriate line for the chorus of a song yet still unnamed, staring at the tiny blue flame flickering in a little window at the front of the gas-heater opposite my table. It took me about 3 hours till I finally got the clue..;
